ROAD WARRIOR: Can you tell roads need fixing?

Tuesday for widening work on the overpass, the Clark County Public Works Department announced. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route, for instance the Jones Boulevard interchange with the Beltway.

Motorists should expect Fourth Street, from Coolidge Avenue to the Fremont Street Experience, to be completely shut down from 9 a.m. to about 2 p.m. Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. parade, the Las Vegas Public Works Department announced.

Construction of an overpass over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks at Craig Road near Interstate 15 is under way. The Nevada Department of Transportation expects the $34 million project to be completed in 2009. Motorists should watch for lane reductions and work zones, especially after 9 p.m.

Capturing the Moment: NFL Films at Super Bowl XLII

On the morning of Super Bowl XLII, NFL Films has its own pregame meal. It is no different, really, than the pregame meal for the two teams. All the personnel gather in a hotel ballroom and after the dishes are cleared away, we go over the game plan one last time. Every assignment is checked, every detail is reviewed.

Ringside seat

We are in a banqueting suite at Old Trafford and a punk version of Blue Moon, the theme song of both Manchester City and Ricky Hatton, is being blasted over the PA system. Half the crowd boo before remembering they are here to pay tribute to Hatton. They start to cheer. It's a typical boxing gathering. Some of the hardest men in Manchester, with their huge necks and jingle-jangle jewellery, stand up for Hatton, who is sitting next to Wayne Rooney on the top table. They look so sweet together, genuinely good friends. It's the normal running order: food, charity raffle, Ricky and the unfortunate professional comic. This time it's Jimmy Carr, and he dies an even more painful death than the last one.

I'm chatting to Hatton's mum, Carol, and I ask if she's really as hard as he makes out. She laughs.

More campers have officials under pressure

Robert Georges of Cheyenne, who also owns property near Guernsey State Park faulted the reservation system because none of the money goes to Wyoming and because people from other states are able to reserve spots, then not show up.Westerfield said money is a problem with a reservation system as well as state law, which prevents the department from undertaking such a project."Now this is not something you can do on your kitchen table with a notepad," Westerfield said.Lou Miller of Cheyenne asked: "Is there going to be any enforcement on the amount of time they can stay?"The department is trying to beef up enforcement in all areas, Simpson said."We are having a really, really difficult time even attracting season employees," he said. The state's unemployment rate is extremely low and there are plenty of other higher paying jobs. The proposed rule changes also include making it illegal to possess fireworks, which are now only illegal if lighted in a park. And it includes a loosening of rules to allow glass containers in tents or campers but not outdoors in the parks.Westerfield said the no glass rule change has been aimed at drunken parties where people break bottles and leave the glass for others to be injured.

Chicago-Based Treatment Center Participates In National Eating ...

In the United States, as many as 10 million females and 1 million males are fighting a life and death battle with anorexia or bulimia and another 25 million with binge eating disorder, according to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). As these numbers have continued to rise, so does the need to raise awareness. National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAW), Feb. 24 to March 1, is held annually to turn the nation's attention to these life-threatening diseases.

Working with NEDA and fellow official coordinators nationwide, Chicago-based Timberline Knolls, a leading residential treatment center, will encourage throwing out skinny jeans in favor of comfortable ones. For the "Embrace Your Genes" drive, Timberline Knolls will collect jeans at the admissions desk in the main building, located at 40 Timberline Drive in Lemont through Feb.
